Skogafoss

Yet another famous waterfall located right outside the town of Skogar drops a good 180 feet. It’s fairly, wide, dramatic and picturesque. I spent the night at the campground right beside the falls…which was a nice backdrop for my morning coffee. Legend has it that a local settler once hid some treasure under the falls, but it has not yet been discovered.

The falls can also be viewed from the sides and top via a long stairway. You can get in a great workout by sprinting up the stairs…they just keep on going! Part way up, I ventured off trail to get a better vantage point on the falls. The drop was precipetous and the blowing mist severe, so it was difficult to get a decent photo.
